How many times have you reflected on your time at Pine Island? The challenges you faced and the friends you made? Exclusively for former Pine Island Staff and Campers (min. age 21+), this challenging PIC Alumni trip is sure to be a trip to remember. We're heading to Belize with long time friend of PIC, Jono Bryant. Fly to Belize and meet the team before heading South to the remote district of Toledo, and the Mayan village of Crique Sarco. Our adventure starts with a day of jungle survival training before heading deep into the remote Belizean forest. Sleeping in Hammocks, cooking over an open fire, collecting water from jungle streams with no distractions other than the sounds of the forest. Three days of hiking brings us to the Temash river where we pickup our traditionally made dugout canoes. You'll paddle the river for another two days, camping on the riverbank along the way until we reach the Ocean, the bay of Honduras. Journeys end. This trip epitomizes the PIC traditions of adventure and teamwork that build character and memories for life. Time to get out of your comfort zone and re-live that Pine Island spirit!

Itinerary
Day 1 - Our leaders Ant and Jono will collect you from the airport and drive the six hours to the small Mayan Village of Crique Sarco. We'll spend the first night in a community building checking our gear and reviewing the days ahead. Enjoy traditional Mayan food provided by the villagers.
Day 2 - Jungle training day, we'll practice with our Hennessy hammocks, learn how to identify dangerous flora and fauna, and practice making fires from wet wood. You'll be issued with a machete and instructed how to safely use it. We'll discuss lost person protocols and how to look after yourself in a seemingly hostile environment. Spend the night in the village.
Day 3 - Early start for our jungle hike. Each team member will be responsible for their share of group kit and taking turns cutting the trail as we work our way through the Jungle. Local guides accompany us teaching jungle skills along the way and identifying amazing plants and animals of the forest. Sleeping in Hammocks.
Day 4 - We wake up with the jungle at first light and start our day. Dividing up chores such as cooking, latrine breakdown/setup and camp clear up. Another day in the jungle crossing rivers, descending steep jungle ridges and having the time of your life!
Day 5 -The final day of hiking, today we arrive at the Temash river and set up camp. We'll check out the canoes and if there's enough light give them a try on the river. Time for a swim and wash off the jungle grime.
Day 6 - Pack-up and leave the jungle camp. All of our gear has to be packed in watertight dry-bags. Time for a change of pace floating and paddling down the river. Approximately 10miles of paddling today will bring us to the first campsite.
Day 7 - The final push of this adventure brings us to the small village of Barranco and the Bay of Honduras. Swim in the ocean and reflect on our amazing adventure. Our transport will collect us and drive to nearby town of Punta Gorda where we relax, get a hot shower, have a celebration dinner and give ourselves a well earned pat on the back.
Day 8 - Time for some R&R, today we charter a local skiff to take us out to Snake Caye, about 30 mins offshore and the best place for swimming, snorkeling and just reflecting on our trip before we head home.
Day 9 - Private bus back to Belize city and fly home.
